Tarucus waterstradti Druce, 1895 - Separate Pierrot

Subspecies in India

(1) Tarucus waterstradti dharta Bethune-Baker, [1918] – Darjeeling Separate Pierrot. The species is also known as the Waterstradt's Pierrot. The subspecies dharta has been known in the literature as the Assam Pierrot, which is a misnomer because the type locality was Darjeeling and the subspecies ranges from the Eastern Himalaya to Indo-China.

  The subspecies dharta is legally protected in India under Schedule II of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
