Photo Gallery and Species Biology

The record (BOI-bq162) from Gorkey, Darjeeling District, reported here on 18 April 2015, is a range extension of the subspecies nepalica, and the first record from India. This is a Himalayan species, of which ssp. vardhana occurs in Kashmir to Uttarakhand, and ssp. nepalica occurs in Nepal and Darjeeling District, Paschimbanga (West Bengal). Outside of Nepal and India, it has been recorded in Yunnan (Huang 2003), perhaps indicating that it should also be present elsewhere in the eastern Himalaya.
