This species is sometimes listed as a subspecies of Euploea core (Cramer, [1780]) – Common Crow or of Euploea climena (Stoll, [1782]), which markedly differ in the morphology of male sex-brands and wing shape.

Endemic to the Nicobar Islands, occurring in three subspecific forms.
Easily identifiable by its dark chocolate- and cinnamon-brown wing coloration, and by the morphology of male sex-brands and wing shape, which are unmistakable with any other species in its range.
