Lexias dirtea Fabricius, 1793 – Dark Archduke
Subspecies in India:
(1) Lexias dirtea khasiana Swinhoe, 1893 – Khasi Dark Archduke
dirtea and khasiana have both been listed separately under Schedule II of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. This is taxonomically inaccurate since dirtea is represented in India only by the subspecies khasiana, not by the nominotypical subspecies, so either dirtea as a species or khasiana as a subspecies should be listed under Schedule II.
